The Reserve Pattern Collection (RPC) brings you authentic vintage styles from the private pattern collection of Decades of Style Pattern Company. Patterns are in single sizes. NINE sizes available from 36" bust/39" hip to 52" bust/55" hip. You must select your size!!

Pattern D04 is a Couture Pattern from the early 1930s for a one-piece dress. “Formal afternoon dress of crêpe satin has wide revers ending in short ties which are knotted at the right front neckline. Sleeves are widened into deep points at lower edge and are set into drop shoulder armholes. Pointed back blouse extends into skirt. Seam under girdle at sides. Inset front features double breasted fastening. Bias godet at center front of skirt below inset.”

There is roughly 4” of ease at the bust, 1” of ease at the waist and 3” of ease at the hips.

The skill level is advanced medium to advanced due to the bias seams on many of the pieces. Fabric with a soft drape are usually more difficult to sew. Please tag this make with #RPCD04 on social media.

Choose size with bust measurement for B cup bra size. Large C cup and bigger cup size, use high bust measurement (you will need to do a full bust adjustment.) This pattern also depends on your hip measurement to get the right fit on the lower half of the garment (adding extra to the skirt section is reasonably straight forward).

Modern yardages not provided. You will need to determine your own yardages and cutting layouts just as you would if working from an original vintage pattern.

ROUGH yardage range for DRESS is:

Size 36" bust/39"hip: Main dress fabric; 3.75 yds 44" fabric with or without nap, 2 7/8 yds 60" fabric with or without nap.

Size 52" bust/55"hip:  Main dress fabric; 4.75 yds 44" fabric with or without nap, 3.75 yds 60" fabric with nap.

1 1/8 yard contrast fabric of any width will be sufficient for all sizes (piecing the "Girdle" will be necessary.)

This is a PDF pattern! Pattern includes "Print At Home" (PAH) files for LETTER and A4 paper (63-77 pages.) A copy shop file is included for A0 paper (4 pages) and is easy to have printed somewhere like Bolt Fabric Boutique (click here to get to Bolt PDF pattern printing service ).
